Travesties

Travesties
Tom Stoppard’s astounding comedy returns to the West End, playing at the Apollo Theatre for a limited period in 2017. The comedy is predominantly set in Zurich during the First World War. It follows the actions of Henry Carr, a minor British diplomat living in Zurich.
Carr has trouble remembering about his time spent in Zurich and gets a string of intriguing personalities, including James Joyce, Tristan Tzara and Russian communist Lenin, muddled up with characters from Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Importance of Being Earnest,’ with hilarious and mind-boggling consequences.
Stoppard’s original production of Travesties won a Tony Award for Best Play and an Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy. Patrick Marber directs this first London revival of the comedy in 20 years. Tom Hollander will star in the play.
