Tosca is showing at the London Coliseum from October 3, 2016 until December 3, 2016. The opera is suitable for all ages.
Tosca is a powerful operatic story that explores the themes of love, lust, murder and political motivation. This rousing story is enhanced by Puccini’s rich romantic score and is regarded as one of the best loved operas in the world.
Tosca is set in Rome when Napoleon invaded Italy. The story is centred on the opera singer Tosca’s boundless love for Cavaradossi, an Italian artist. As political anguish intensifies in Rome, the hateful chief of police Scarpia wants to win Tosca’s affection, exploiting her intense passion to his own advantage.
Catherine Malfitano directs this new production of Tosca, which returns to the English Nation Opera. Tosca stars the rapidly-rising soprano Keri Alkema as the eponymous hero.
