Rejoice – The High Table tickets are on sale!

The High Table is coming to the Bush Theatre in London in the spring of 2020 for a limited run. Starting from 8th February, it will be on till 21st March. The High Table tickets are on high demand and selling out fast. A poignant, fresh new play, it deals with a topic that many still see as sensitive and controversial – homosexuality. Despite the emerging acceptance of homosexuality in many countries, a significant number of people, mostly from older generations, still cannot fully fathom its implications in society. This becomes a pressing matter when they are put in a spot where they need to accept the orientation of their children. This play encircles Tara and Leah, two girls who are in love and plan to settle down officially. As they lay it down to their parents, Tara’s folks may not be ready to accept their daughter’s choice easily.

A story of love, family ties, stereotypes and homosexuality

Leah and Tara love each other, and it is a secret they can no longer hold. They reserve their wedding venue, buy their dresses, and invite all the guests. But, as the occasion closes in, Tara’s future seems to be thrown off balance when she spills the beans. Although a matter of joy and celebration, Tara’s Nigerian parents do not welcome the couple’s rhapsody. They refuse to attend the wedding. They have never heard of such love between two similar sexes. According to them, it is not African and will upset their ancestors.

Up above the London sky, resting between the stars are three ancestors of Tara, who are woken from their eternal slumber. Assertive and obstinate, they watch carefully as family secrets are revealed, and the air between Tara and her family gets thicker. Will they cross the rift between them? Will Tara be able to change the outdated opinion of her parents? Are they capable of getting over the differences and bless the young couple? Witness a family drama that bridges the heavens and the earth. The High Table tickets will seat you amidst a funny and heart-breaking play from Temi Wilkey.
