The Story

The story takes place in 1937. America and the rest of the world continue to feel the effects of the Wall Street Crash of 1929, while the London Stock Exchange had crashed a month prior. The American stock market crash was the beginning of 12 years. Industrial countries were greatly affected economically. In one African American community, the effects of the aftermath of the Great Depression are visible. Tensions rise, and tempers flare as every family struggles to survive through these hard times. Yet, one woman, Amanda Wingfield, refuses to be bogged down by circumstances. She decides that her children will not lead the impoverished life she had to endure. Follow the compelling story of Amanda as she fights to improve life for herself and her family.
