The Book of Mormon comes to the West End to delight the audiences once more. Winner of nine Tony Awards in 2011, the acclaimed musical opens at the Prince of Wales Theatre. It achieved several sell-out shows and highly positive reviews with its delivery. It has since become one of the hottest shows in the West End. When it debuted on Broadway a decade ago, its exciting story took the critics and spectators by storm and secured its place in the history of theatre. Now, The Book of Mormon London production is here, and this is the perfect time for you to book the tickets. With an anticipating crowd, they will sell out in no time!

How the Show was Created

The box office spectacular is the work of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the famous duo that created South Park, and Robert Lopez, Disney’s Frozen film music composer and co-creator of Avenue Q. The Book of Mormon is inspired by one of South Park’s episodes that aired on Comedy Central in 2003. Parker and Stone were so inspired by “All About Mormons” that they decided to make a stage production using its elements.

Although the show is a parody of Mormonism, the creators had a difficult time in their attempts to make fun as Mormons are generally friendly and nice people. The Book of Mormon London production follows two Mormon missionaries as they go to a small Ugandan village and try to preach the faith of the church to the people. However, it is not going to be an easy task. The inhabitants are more concerned with famine, AIDS, and an evil warlord.

The musical, with its captivating delivery, amassed overwhelming responses. It bagged a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album and the Tony Award for Best Musical. In the West End, the show first opened in 2013, after which it had two US national tours. It also grossed over $500 million and is one of the most loved theatre musicals in the world.
