McQueen is showing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from Thursday 13 August until Saturday 7 November 2015. The show includes one interval.
Show Description – McQueen
James Phillips’ new play explores the tormented genius of Alexander McQueen, one of Britain’s most talented and iconic contemporary fashion designers.
Following phenomenal success at St James Theatre, McQueen has transferred to the Theatre Royal Haymarket for a strictly limited 13-week run.
The play is centred on a mysterious young girl who has been secretly watching the fashion designer from a tree in his garden. One night she breaks into his house and attempts to steal a dress. On being caught, the pair form an unlikely friendship and embark on a journey through London, reliving McQueen’s past as the troubled twosome find the comfort the desperately yearn.
Directed by John Caird, McQueen has generated a whirl of great reviews, described as “suitably fabulous” by The Independent, “power and memorable” by The Sunday Times, and boasting choreography that is “sensual and meaning” by The Times.
Key cast members include Stephen Wight as Alexander McQueen, Carly Bawden as Dahlia, Tracy-Ann Oberman as Isabella Blow, Laura Rees as Arabella and Michael Bertenshaw as Mr Hitchcock.
