The Timeless Tale

Set in the early 19th century Paris, Les Miserable is a tale of justice, struggle, resilience, love, redemption, and revolution. The Les Miserables Concert sings the story of Jean Valjean, a poor French peasant who was thrown into jail for stealing a loaf of bread for his sister’s famished child. After serving for nearly 20 years, Valjean is released on parole only to discover that the yellow ticket he is bound to display makes him an outcast in society. From there, his journey of redemption starts.

The Longest-Running Show

The Victor Hugo classic, published back in 1862, is one of the most popular and critically appraised novels of all time. And the theatrical adaptation of the novel has also received huge accolades among the audience and critics alike. Since Cameron mackintosh adapted and produced the show for the first time in 1985, it has held the record of being the longest-running musical in the history of the West End, as well as the second longest-running show in the world. After a very successful run for over two decades, the original production was announced to come to an end in July 2019.

Given the roaring success of the original Cameron Mackintosh production of the Les Miserables Concert, the show is once again returning to the West End stages in the coming months of 2021. The much-anticipated performance will feature Jon Robyns as Jean Valjean, Lucie Jones as Fantine, Bradley Jaden as Javert, Josefina Gabrielle as Madame Thénardier, Gerard Carey as Thénardier, Harry Apps as Marius, Charlie Burn as Cosette, Jamie Muscato as Enjolras, and Shan Ako as Éponine. The brand-new performance will be directed by legendary director duo James Powell and Laurence Connor. And it will feature the original music composition of the iconic composer Claude-Michel Schönberg, orchestrated by Stephen Metcalfe, Stephen Brooker, and Christopher Jahnke. From the repertoire of the cast and crew, it is obvious that the show is going to be epic.
