A brand new stage of Half a Sixpence comes to the Noel Coward theatre, adapted from ‘The Story of a Simple Soul’, H.G. Wells’ semi-autobiographical novel.
Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, the West End transfer of the Chichester Festival Theatre revival reunites composers Anthony Drewe and George Stiles with book writer Julian Fellowes. The score has been extended for the West End transfer and includes several of David Heneker’s original songs, such as ‘Half a Sixpence’ and ‘Money To Burn.’
The whole of the original cast of the Chichester production is playing at the West End, alongside newbies Charlie Stemp as Arthur Kipps, Ian Bartholomew as Chitterlow, Devon-Elise Johnson as Ann Pornick and Emma Williams as Helen Walsingham.
The story is centred on orphan Arthur Kipps, who expectantly inherits a fortune. Out of the two women in his life who are desperately in love with Arthur, who will the former draper’s assistant listen to?
Half a Sixpence at the Noel Coward Theatre is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh with choreography by Andrew Wright.
