Good People Show Description
Hampstead Theatre’s sell-out show Good People is transferring to the West End at the Noel Coward Theatre for a strictly limited run from the 10th April 2014 for 10 weeks only.
David Lindsay-Abaire’s funny and tender play will star original cast members Imelda Staunton and Lloyd Owen.
Good People is set in South Boston. Sharp-tongued single mother, Margie is born on the wrong side of the tracks and struggling to make ends meet when she loses her job. Desperate to pay her bills and prepared to do anything she hears that an old boyfriend who has made good has returned to town. She tracks him down with unexpected results all round as destiny has a habit of surprising you.
Olivier Award-winning actress stars as Margie, her recent theatre credits include Sweeney Todd and A Delicate Balance and her film credits include BAFTA winning Vera Drake, Sense and Sensibility, Shakespeare in Love and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Lloyd Owen, recent star of the musical The Bodyguard, recent theatre credits include NT50, Blood and Gifts and Paul, and is probably best known to T.V. viewers from his starring role in the BBC’s Monarch of the Glen.
Edward Hall, artistic director at the Hampstead Theatre, said: “I am utterly delighted that Good People is having this very well-deserved West End run: it’s a truly brilliant play beautifully directed, and the cast are astonishingly good in it. It was sold out at Hampstead before those really great reviews appeared, so it’s especially pleasing that many people who would otherwise have been disappointed will now have a chance to catch it.”
Good People is directed by Jonathan Kent, with design by Hildegard Bechtler.
