Elf The Musical is a stage adaptation of the popular and highly revered 2003 movie Elf, a Christmas comedy starring Will Ferrell as an unlikely elf called “Buddy”.

Narrated by Santa Claus, the musical is centred on the life of Buddy, one of Santa’s little helpers. As a young orphan child Buddy inadvertently crawled into Santa’s sack and was taken to the North Pole where he was brought up as an elf.

With hapless toy-making skills and an ungainly size, Buddy suspects he is different from his elf companions and decides to leave the North Pole for New York to find his true identity.

As Buddy comes to realise, life in New York is considerably different to life in the North Pole and the young elf takes it upon himself to spread some Christmas cheer amongst New Yorkers – with hilarious consequences.

The hugely successful family movie spawned the launch of a Broadway musical in 2010. On Broadway, Elf The Musical enjoyed great reviews and broke box office records, with ticket sales exceeding a million dollars in one week.

Elf The Musical features songs by Tony Award nominees Chad Beguelin and Matthew Sklar. It has a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin. The production’s choreography and direction is by Morgan Young and set design and costumes by Oliver Award winner Tim Goodchild. Lighting design is by Tim Lutkin, also an Olivier Award winner, and sound design is by Clem Rawling.

With action and humour that engages with both children and adults and incredible stage contraptions that resemble a flying sleigh, Elf The Musical looks set to be a West End hit this Christmas.

You can catch this much-loved family show at the Dominion Theatre from 24 October 2015 until 2 January 2016.
