A School That Rocks

Dewey Finn is a struggling rock guitarist in need of money. His band kicked him out but his love for rock music remains. Not being able to find anything close to what he wants, Dewey disguises himself as a substitute music teacher at a reputed school. While he has not much idea about how he is going to use the situation to his advantage, he recognises the musical talent of his students and introduces them to the genre of hard rock and his favourite bands like Led Zepplin and The Who. However, the school’s uptight principal is not in favour of this. Dewey is able to connect with his students at a deeper level, igniting their rock ‘n’ roll animals, and forming a band to redeem himself at a local Battle of the Bands. But, his secret identity may be in jeopardy.

Released on 3rd October 2003, the film had a budget of $35 million, to which it earned over $131 million globally. Jack Black’s acting, comedy, and energy worked like a charm and complemented the storyline. The film received immensely positive reviews and remained the top music-based film until 2015. It also got a musical and television adaptation later. Find out what keeps the movie young and refreshing even after all these years with the School of Rock drive in tickets, and the Drive In is probably the best place to do so.
