Adam Kay: This Is Going to Hurt (Secret Diaries Of A Junior Doctor)

Why Watch Adam Kay: This Is Going to Hurt (Secret Diaries Of A Junior Doctor)

Based on the renowned book of Adam Kay by the same name, the comedic show explores the life of an NHS doctor. Adam Kay himself was a junior doctor during his time at the NHS, before becoming an author and comedian. Adam Kay’s transition into the entertainment industry began during his training as a doctor. He would perform medical school shows and also founded Amateur Transplants, a musical comedy group. You are in for brilliant wordplay, and an hour of horror and comedy, as you listen to some of the stories from the NHS frontlines. You are promised a rare glimpse into the trials of an NHS doctor, and the difficulties of the medical profession. Kay has been widely praised for being able to spread awareness about the challenging lives of doctors in the UK, while still continuing to incorporate elements of humor. The underlying theme of the show is to highlight the mistreatment and neglect that doctors are forced to endure.

Following sell-out performances at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Soho Theatre in 2017 and the Duchess Theatre in 2018, This Is Going To Hurt makes its way to Garrick Theatre for a strictly limited run.
