Why Watch A Very Expensive Poison

Written by Luke Harding, the novel outlines the events that led to the death of Alexander Litvinenko, a Russian spy. A former officer of the Russian KGB and FSB, Litvinenko had defected from Russia and become a British citizen. He was a consultant for the British Intelligence Services, and was very vocal about the Putin government, and accused them of murdering numerous Russian journalists and several other acts of terror.

The Story

A man dies in a London hospital on the 23rd of November, 2006. He has just been ill for 3 weeks and his health had deteriorated rapidly. This man was a former officer of the secret police of Russia. His death was not natural, since it becomes clear that he had been poisoned by a radioactive substance. It was highly likely that the murder had been ordered or approved by the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
