Show Description – A Christmas Carol
What’s become almost a tradition in festive viewing, Dickens’ much-loved novella is adapted for the stage once more, enabling audiences to enjoy the timeless Christmas story on the West End.
Oscar-winning actor Jim Broadbent is returning to the stage, playing Scrooge in the production. A Christmas Carol at the Noel Coward Theatre is directed by Phelim McDermott and produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.
Charles Dickens’ endearing story is set in London, which eagerly awaits the arrival of Christmas. All except the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who dismisses Christmas as nonsense and a waste of time, scorning his cheerful nephew and loyal clerk for their optimism towards the festive season. But when Scrooge encounters several spirits who take him on a journey through his past, present and future, he is forced to rethink his miserliness.
First published in 1843, A Christmas Carol became an instant hit and has been constantly adapted for film, theatre, television and radio.
