If you’re on the lookout for London Wicked tickets and are seeing the show for the first time, not quite sure what to expect, you might be interested to hear that its resounding successes are continuing, eight years after it first hit the Broadway stage.
An immediate favourite among theatregoers, Wicked certainly seems to show no signs of slowing down, with audiences in the UK still clamouring to see it over and over again. In fact, it has just been revealed that the musical – which tells the story of the Witches of Oz – has now become the biggest musical hit in the history of theatre in the town of Milton Keynes, with over 45,000 people flocking to see it as soon as they can.
That alone should be enough to prompt you to go and see the show, which takes inspiration from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West and depicts the tale of a deep friendship between two girls who meet as students of witchcraft at Shiz University.
It’s received endless streams of rave reviews, including the London Evening Standard which wrote in 2013 that it is “one of the most popular West End musicals ever”, and Digital Spy which described it as a “truly magical experience. The reasons for Wicked’s staying power are simple: a universal story with real depth, characters that break your heart, a book with more wit and easy charm than much of theatreland put together – and irresistibly memorable songs”.
