Following great reviews and critical acclaim, the much-loved Chichester Festival Theatre production of Guys and Dolls will play its final performance on Sunday 21 August, 2016
The final curtain will fall on Rebel Wilson and Guys and Dolls at the Phoenix Theatre this month
The musical had been due to stay on the West End until January 7, 2017 but producers have announced it will close four months ahead of schedule.
Rebel Wilson had recently joined the Guys and Dolls cast at the Phoenix Theatre making her West End debut playing Miss Adelaide alongside Simon Lipkin who plays Nathan Detroit, a working relationship that earned the pair a four-star review. The closure of the musical will fall at the end of Rebel’s Guys and Dolls’ stint.
In a statement, the musical’s producers expressed their regret at the early closure of the show, stating:
“Having enjoyed rave reviews in the UK, the critically acclaimed Chichester Festival Theatre production of Guys and Dolls will play its final performance in the West End on Sunday 21st August, prior to embarking on an international tour.”
“We are incredibly proud of Guys and Dolls and the way it has delighted audiences at Chichester Festival Theatre, in the West End (Savoy and Phoenix), and at numerous major UK venues.”
The much-loved musical will embark on an international tour, beginning in Israel this September.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the show to date and very much look forward to taking Guys and Dolls to an international audience,” continued the musical’s producers.
