Embark on an intoxicating journey through California’s wine-country as Rex Pickett brings the acclaimed stage production of his much-loved novel to St. James Theatre

Sideways: The Play is coming to St. James Theatre in May

Based on the hugely successful novel Sideways, which was the inspiration of the Golden Globe and Academy Award winning film, Rex Pickett revives the comedy and warmth of his wine-fuelled novel on the stage with Sideways: The Play.

The plot follows best friends Miles and Jack, who, encroaching on mid-life crises, head to Santa Barbara for a week of wine tasting. But the journey takes an even more intoxicating twist when the author and actor stumble into the equally as complex characters, Maya and Terra.

The four join forces and go on to discover, when in good company, just how potent a good glass of wine can be, for better or for worse.

Directed by David Grindley and written by Rex Pickett, Sideways: The Play was met with great acclaim at La Jolla Playhouse where it enjoyed a sold out run.

Better than a “well aged Pinot Noir!”

Described as fizzing with “comedy and heartfelt emotion”, which “goes down better than a well-aged Pinot Noir,” Sideways: The Play is making its premiere in the UK at St. James Theatre.

The play’s quality cast sees Daniel Weyman play Miles, Simon Harrison as Jack, Ellie Piercy as Maya and Beth Cordingly as Terra. Anna Kavanagh, Kirsten Hazel Smith and Daniel Barry are also starring in this brand new production.

Sideways: The Play is showing at St. James Theatre from 26 May until 9 July, 2016. Containing strong language and scenes of a sexual nature, Sideways: The Play is not suitable for young children.
