Producer Harvey Weinstein has declared that Neverland the musical is definitely coming in to the West End as soon as he can finalise a suitable theatre. Harvey has stated that producing a West End musical is the hardest thing he has had to do.

Successful film producer, Harvey Weinstein is probably best known as co-founder of Miramax Films. He and his brother Bob have been co-chairmen of The Weinstein Company, their film production company, since 2005. He won an Oscar for producing the film Shakespeare in Love, soon to be on the stage in London’s West End, and also for The King’s Speech.

He has been executive producer on numerous films, including the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Quentin Taratino films, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained as well as many others.

Harvey has already successful produced a host of award-winning plays and musicals on Broadway including: The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical, and August: Osage County, winning seven Tony Awards along the way.

Finding Neverland the musical is a stage show based on the 2004 film of the same name, which starred Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp and explores the inspiration behind the famous character, Peter Pan.

The musical has been co-written by singer-songwriter and X-Factor judge Gary Barlow, formerly of Take That.

Gary Barlow said: “This is something I’ve always wanted to do so it’s a real privilege to be involved. I’m really enjoying working with the team and I love the story; it’s also great to be working with a legendary creative like Harvey Weinstein.”

This House playwright James Graham is editing the book. The story tells of how JM Barrie’s friendship with a young family inspired Peter Pan. The tale begins the day after James Barrie’s new play The Wedding Guest has flopped. Walking with his dog Porthos in Kensington Gardens, he meets a beautiful widow Sylvia Davies and her four boys, Jack, George, Michael and Peter. Inspired by their hilarious and fun-filled misadventures J.M. Barrie created the magical and beloved world of Peter Pan and Captain Hook.

It will be directed by Tony Award-winning American director Diane Paulus.

This show in London promises to be a truly lavish production and a show suitable for all the family. Finding Neverland is a real feel-good musical with some really catchy tunes.
