42nd Street is coming to the West End in 2017
An all-singing cast of more than 50 will take to the stage at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and fill the auditorium with classic numbers, including We’re In The Money, Shuffle Off To Buffalo, Lullaby Of Broadway, Dames, I Only Have Eyes For You and, of course, 42nd Street.
This American musical was originally produced for Broadway in 1980, where it became a long-running hit and won a Tony Award for Best Musical. In 1984 the show was produced for the West End, where it won an Olivier Award for Best Musical. In 2001, the musical was revived on Broadway, where it again became a huge success, picking up a Tony Award for Best Revival.
Well now the much-loved American dream fable of Broadway is being revived for London once more, showing at the iconic Theatre Royal Drury Lane for a limited period in 2017.
Mark Bramble who co-authored the book for the original 42nd Street musical on Broadway and who directed the 2001 revival of the show, is returning to the West End to direct the new production.
