The youngest Billy yet! 10-year-old Elliot stars as Elliot
It’s not a case of Art imitating Art but rather Elliot acting as Elliot as the new casting for Billy Elliot has taken to the stage at the Victoria Place theatre in London and the 34th Billy is the youngest yet.
The Victoria Palace theatre stands proud as a listed building in the demolition site that is currently Victoria, where new offices and fancy retail outlets are quickly replacing the Victorian facades. Meanwhile the show now stars 10-year-old Elliott Hanna in the title role and the youngest boy ever to play the part in the West End.

Also joining Elliott on stage are 10-year-old Demi Lee, as Billy’s dance teacher’s daughter Debbie. They join a cast that currently also includes Anna-Jane Casey as Billy’s dance teacher Mrs. Wilkinson, Deka Walmsley as Billy’s Dad and Kevin Wathen as Billy’s brother Tony, with Howard Crossley as George, Alexander Loxton as Older Billy, Kay Milbourne as Dead Mum, Simon Ray Harvey as Mr. Braithwaite and Ann Emery, who created the role of Grandma at the Victoria Palace theatre when the show premiered in 2005.
Liverpudlian Elliot, the real life actor not Billy Elliot, lives with his mum, dad and sister Imogen. Elliot began dancing at the tender age of just four at the Nazene Danielle’s Dance Dynamix in Liverpool. His first passion was for break dancing but he soon became interested in other styles of dance including ballet, tap and modern theatre.
After coming third on Sky1’s “Got to Dance,” he and his dance partner Tayluer Amos, went on to perform at the Savoy Theatre as part of the Queen’s Jubilee celebration. Elliot has now mastered the Geordie accent and is performing in rotation as Billy Elliot along with Tade Biesinger (13 years old from Utah, USA), Harrison Dowzell (13 years old from Nottinghamshire), Redmand Rance (12 years old from Fareham, Hampshire) and Ali Rasul (12 years old from Hartlepool).
Demi lives in Middlesbrough, not unsurprisingly with her mum, dad and brother Lucas, as even as precocious a talent that she is, she is not as yet living on her own. Demi started dancing at the age of eight at the Val Armstrong School of Performing Arts where she competed in local dance competitions and championships including the British Modern Championship final.
Demi shares the role with Dayna Dixon (11 years old from Newcastle upon Tyne) and Millie Thornton (11 years old from Sunderland) who alternate as Debbie.
Zach Atkinson (12 years old from Manchester), Joe Massey (14 years old from South Wirrell) and Thomas Moore (11 years old from Armthorpe, Doncaster) alternate the role of Billy’s best friend Michael.
