Let It Be
Summary
We hope you will enjoy the show!
In 1962, The Beatles announced themselves to the world with Love Me Do. By 1970 they had disbanded, leaving both an enviable back catalogue and tensions which meant they never again performed as a four-piece.
Rain, a Beatles tribute band, have themselves brought together a cast of musicians who play the roles and songs of the great British group. We hear songs chronologically as they were released, starting with early efforts including From Me to You and All My Loving, moving to the songs which soundtracked their celebrated films A Hard Day’s Night and Help!
The Beatles’ musical progression is so well-loved that it is a thrill to see it enacted on stage, especially because they never performed live any of the songs on Revolver, Sgt Pepper and The White Album. Mingling the softer songs like Something and Blackbird with harder cuts such as Revolution and Come Together, the full range of the band’s music is showcased in Let It Be.
As well as the songs which are pleasant on the ear and make feet tap, the plethora of recognisable costumes light up the stage. From smart suits of the early years to the Pepper outfits which made a cameo in the Olympic Opening Ceremony, the costume department have been busy creating an authentic look for the performers. This is a show where the past is brought back to the present, nostalgia at a great price with melodies attached!
This musical, a success at the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2012, transfers to the Savoy for a run in 2013. See it before it moves on again!
